Not read any other post. DNA kits are £60-80 each. Get the vet to pull some hairs from your horse, the stallion may already be DNA'd you'll have to ask the owners, then send it off to Newmarket.

We have to get all our stallions DNA'd and the breed society hold the results for futurer reference.

out of interest, what should the previous owner , the breeder, should have done? should she have registered her or what? i got a reply from her, she says all she has is covering receipt and that really she has to keep that but 'may' provide me a copy but it wont help me anyway

she also said it should say on her passpoert the dam and sire name. she was there at time of getting passport and knows only too well about this. its wetherbys passport and they said they do not put this info on. anyhow she has no proof as to speak anyway!

whats the general procedure when foal born then?

I would call weatherbys and ask them if with the CC they will put the dam/sire etc on the passport and if they usually put the CC in the passport.

ETA lol sorry the point of my post is that if you can get Weatherbys to send you written confirmation via email that the CC can/should go in the passport then you could give this to the breeder?

My horses passport is through the AES and his CC is in the passport as a page so i dont see why other registries wouldnt

sorry whats cc, covering certificate? she doesnt even have that, purely a receipt

I have no idea how your breed Soc. work things. IN ours for a stalion to get his number and in the Stallion book he needs to be chipped and DNA'd by a vet.

The Stud book holds all the reg. stallions DNA results. By contacting them and sending a DNA sample off they will tell you whether it is a right match.
